Burkina Faso football officials are reported to have held talks with Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah over the possibility of appointing him as head coach of the national team.

Sources close to the coach reveal that preliminary discussions have already been held, with Appiah and members of his technical team involved in the early talks.

However, it has not been disclosed whether the former Black Stars coach is open to taking up the role, as discussions are still ongoing to determine his next move.

Burkina Faso are said to be seeking a manager with extensive coaching experience on the African continent to lead the team to success.

Kwasi Appiah made history by guiding Sudan to the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they lost 3-1 to eventual winners Senegal.

He also worked to turn around the fortunes of the Sudanese team despite the country’s ongoing internal challenges.

In addition, Appiah led Sudan to the semi-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), further enhancing his reputation as a coach capable of maximizing limited resources and building competitive squads.

The 65-year-old previously made history by leading Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and overseeing multiple AFCON campaigns during his tenure with the Black Stars.
