Renowned Ghanaian broadcaster, musician, and cultural icon, Kwame Adinkra, is set to celebrate his birthday in grand style with the release of a brand-new single, ‘Meto Wo Kropon’.

Known for his smooth voice, rich cultural storytelling, and passion for music, Kwame Adinkra continues to make waves in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. This new release marks another milestone in his multifaceted career and is expected to resonate with both his loyal followers and new audiences alike.

During his morning show on Pure FM, Kwame expressed his excitement about the upcoming track, describing it as a “special gift to my fans and supporters who have been part of my journey.” This is how he explained his motivation and composition on his Facebook page:

“My song compositions often begin in my car, inspired by the rhythms and melodies of world music. From there, the journey continues with my collaboration with Mr. Collins Agyemang of Mussive Music, where the creative process truly takes shape. Together, we develop the initial idea, always accompanied by plenty of laughter and good food.

“Collins then assembles a team of skilled professionals to contribute to the project. Once the demo is ready, we listen to it repeatedly, refining it before presenting it to the big boss, Dan Bassey of Bassey House of Music. Collins and Dan share a natural synergy in their collaboration. With his remarkable talent and discerning ear, Bassey offers invaluable feedback. We usually complete the song in his studio, whether through mixing or re-recording the vocals.

“Depending on the complexity of the project, we may take extra time to ensure everything is perfect before release. The creation of Meto Wo Kropon followed a similar process, with one unique twist—Kofi Ackah completed the final mix in Canada. Additionally, we were thrilled to feature the exceptional talent of international guitarist OT Woods in the production. The result has been nothing short of phenomenal. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed! Meto wo kropon!

This song draws inspiration from the profound significance of naming, whether it’s the naming of a child or the naming of towns and cities. Some children are named after their parents, grandparents, or other influential figures in society. Similarly, towns and cities often carry fascinating stories behind their names. Obiri Komfo (Okomfo Anokye), a spiritual leader of the Asante Kingdom, provides one such unique story. According to historical accounts, he planted two seedlings in two prominent towns within Asante. The seedling that thrived was named Kumasi, while the one that struggled to grow was named Kumawu. In this song, I reimagine the concept of naming by dreaming of acquiring a vast land where I can build a city and name it after my beloved. Meto wo kropon, literally, I will name a city after you.”

The song will be released on Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms at 12:00 AM on December 27th.
