Former National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has endorsed the decision to dismiss Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, describing it as a step in the right direction following Ghana’s recent poor performances.

Addo, 50, was relieved of his duties after Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Germany in their final international friendly during the March window. The loss came on the back of a heavy 5-1 defeat to Austria in Vienna, a result that intensified pressure on the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Agyemang stressed the need for the Ghana Football Association to appoint a high-caliber replacement. He urged authorities to invest in a world-class coach capable of delivering results, even if it requires a significant financial commitment.

He also cautioned against nepotism in the selection process, insisting that merit should guide the appointment.

During his tenure, Addo managed 22 matches, recording eight wins, five draws, and nine defeats.

Names such as Kwesi Appiah, Walid Regragui, Marc Brys, and Tom Saintfiet have been linked to the vacant role.

The Black Stars are set to regroup in May for friendlies against Mexico and Wales ahead of the World Cup, where Ghana will compete in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
