Kojo Addae-Mensah, CEO of Databank and has urged Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Okraku not to pursue a third term in office.

In an interview on Sporty FM Ghana, Addae-Mensah, who was appointed as a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) search committee for the Black Stars coach in 2023, expressed concerns over the proposed amendment to the GFA statutes, which would extend the presidential term limit from two to three terms.

He argued that such a move could undermine the democratic principles of the GFA, emphasizing the need for leadership transitions to maintain fairness and institutional stability.

Addae-Mensah highlighted that the current statute, established in 2019, was designed to prevent the concentration of power, and altering them to favor Okraku’s ambitions would set a dangerous precedent for Ghanaian football governance.

Addae-Mensah called for a focus on improving the league’s competitiveness and integrity, suggesting that “Kurt should not run for a third term and allow his successor do so, should the GFA Congress approve the amendment”.

“Kurt came to office knowing he has only two terms to serve”, he continued.

His comments come ahead of the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress on August 12, 2025, where the proposed term extension will be a key discussion point.
