President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to discuss areas of collaboration aimed at promoting the development of football and education in Ghana.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Ministry of Education in Accra, focused on creating stronger synergies between the two sectors to enhance youth development, discipline, and talent discovery through education and sport.

President Okraku expressed his appreciation to the Minister for the warm reception and openness to dialogue, describing the engagement as a key step towards building a sustainable partnership rooted in shared national goals.

He reaffirmed the GFA’s commitment to aligning football development initiatives with Ghana’s educational framework to nurture talent both on and off the field.

The GFA President cited programs such as the Catch Them Young Refereeing Initiative and the School Football Development Project as examples of the Association’s efforts to integrate football into the academic system.

He also pledged the GFA’s support in developing policies that enhance physical education and improve football infrastructure in schools.

Minister Haruna Iddrisu commended the GFA’s proactive approach to football development and lauded the Association for recognising the vital role education plays in producing disciplined and well-rounded athletes.

He expressed his Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the GFA to link academic training with football excellence, ensuring holistic growth for young talents.

President Okraku was accompanied by Executive Council members Samuel Aboabire and Gideon Fosu, as well as the GFA Technical Director, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.

The engagement forms part of President Okraku’s broader agenda to strengthen institutional partnerships that enhance football governance, youth development, and the overall sporting ecosystem in Ghana.
