Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, on Friday, August 15, 2025, led a high-powered delegation from the country’s football governing body to pay their final respects to the victims of the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

The solemn ceremony, held at the Black Star Square in Accra, brought together government officials, political leaders, and prominent sports figures to honour the memories of the eight lives lost.

The victims were Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Mr Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafimi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

In photos shared by the GFA, President Kurt Okraku was seen alongside Senior Communications Manager, Patrick Akoto.

Also present was GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, whose attendance underscored the association’s united front in paying tribute to the departed.

The delegation’s presence reflected football’s deep connection to national life, as the sport’s leaders stood shoulder to shoulder with the wider Ghanaian community in mourning the tragedy.

The crash has left a significant void in Ghana’s political and security landscape, and Friday’s funeral served as a befitting farewell for the victims.
