Veteran Kumawood actress Maame Kali has accused fellow actress Matilda Asare of cheating industry players out of over GH₵310,000, given to them by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for campaigning.

Maame Kali, in an interview with Oheneba Media on Youtube, revealed that she was part of the Kumawood actors who campaigned heavily for the NPP during the 2020 elections.

According to her, after spending their resources on the campaign, the group found themselves stranded and decided to visit the party leadership for financial assistance.

She explained that during their visit, the party leadership offered them a sum of GH₵310,000 to be shared among them.

However, Matilda Asare allegedly took the money and gave Maame Kali and the rest of the team a meager share.

According to Maame Kali, Matilda Asare gave her only GH₵2,000, while some of her colleagues received as little as GH₵500 or GH₵1,000.

“Matilda Asare, an elderly woman like me… We were given 3.1 billion [old cedis] after the NPP campaign. She called me to meet her at Golden Tulip, where one of the elders had handed over the money. Out of the 3.1 billion, she only shared 100 million. Others received GH₵500 or GH₵1,000, but she gave me GH₵2,000. All of us went to Accra to complain, and they gave us the money.”
