Black Stars midfielder, Kudus Mohammed has revealed his affection for Accra Hearts of Oak, describing the Ghanaian giants as the team he passionately supported while growing up.

The Tottenham Hotspur star, who moved to North London this summer after leaving West Ham, recalled how his elder brother would go to great lengths to secure tickets so they could watch Hearts of Oak matches at the Accra Sports Stadium..

“I supported Accra Hearts of Oak; they were my main team. My brother hustled to get money to buy a ticket so we could watch their games. It’s a pleasure for me to play in those stadiums now I’ve spent time watching the Ghana league,” Kudus told Sports Illustrated.

Don’t judge me by 90 minutes – Kudus hits back at media criticism

Hearts of Oak remain one of the most decorated clubs in African football. Founded in 1911, they have won the CAF Champions League (2000), the CAF Confederation Cup (2004), and numerous Ghana Premier League titles, cementing their place as a powerhouse in Ghana.

For Kudus, the connection with the club and the stadium is personal and symbolic. The venue where he once sat as a fan is now the stage where he represents Ghana in Black Stars colours.

Now settling into life at Spurs, Kudus has quickly become a key figure under manager Thomas Frank. Yet despite the demands of Premier League football, the 25-year-old has not lost touch with his boyhood bond with the Phobians.
