Asante Kotoko have announced that the club will return to its traditional home stadium following the completion of renovation works by the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The Baba Yara Stadium has not hosted a competitive game since Ghana’s loss to Angola on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

This came after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) withdrew its approval due to technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field.

It was also determined that the stadium failed to meet the required standards for hosting Category 3 international matches. In response, the National Sports Authority closed the facility for renovations, forcing Asante Kotoko to find an alternative venue.

However, after months away, the Porcupine Warriors can now return to their original home. Sharing the news, the club posted on their social media accounts about the NSA’s communication confirming that home matches can now be played at the Baba Yara Stadium.

“We are pleased to announce our return to the Baba Yara Stadium for our remaining home matches of the season. This decision was arrived at following an official communication from the National Sports Authority indicating the completion of maintenance work at our historic home venue.”

Since the stadium’s closure, Kotoko has been using the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, where they have played six games, winning three, drawing one, and losing two.
