Asante Kotoko supporters on social media have questioned the timing of striker Albert Amoah’s permanent transfer move to Libyan Premier League giants Al Ahli Benghazi.

The Porcupine Warriors confirmed Amoah’s departure barely two hours after their 5-1 defeat to Wydah Athletic Club at the Mohammed V Stadium in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“We can confirm the permanent transfer of forward Albert Amoah to Libyan side AL AHLY BENGHAZI.”

“Asante Kotoko is grateful to Albert for his services to the club and his achievements with us. We wish him the very best for the future,” the club tweeted as sighted by GhanaWeb Sports.

Reacting to the news, supporters of Asante Kotoko took to social media to express their frustrations about the departure of their leading striker.

Some also questioned the timing of the announcement, saying announcing the departure of Albert Amoah shortly after their embarrassing defeat in Morocco was wrong.

Check out some of the reactions below:

What sort of disrespect to fans is that? A few hours of getting humiliated by WAC and the next update the fans got to receive from the team is that the star boy in the team at the moment has been sold to a Libyan team. The same mistakes that the previous administration was doing…

And you expect us to compete in Africa like the other top African clubs??? 😂😂Hell No!!!…. Ghanaian clubs are far back and It’s really really sad.. It’s not going to get any better soon because our league itself is very very poor and wrongly managed by so called Club…

Some of the decisions people in higher places take always make the masses question their competence.
Fans shouldn’t expect any better continental performances from this club.
They unearth good players and sell them to North Africans. Rinse and repeat for the past 2 decades.

Most of u here are funny. If we ask you to show a proof of your monthly contribution to Kotoko, u may not be able to provide, yet you hv the loudest mouth here condemning the IMC. How do u expect them to fund the club. @AsanteKotoko_SC

    — Oteng Baafi Clement(AK-0007030) (@BaafiOteng) October 25, 2025

This is one of the most questionable decision from the club. Selling your best player at this stage of the season? How then can you compete at the continent level. His Royal majesty must sack all those involved in this deal. Rubbish

    — Ahafia Gershon🦅🇬🇭 (@ahafia_ga) October 24, 2025

I’m sorry to say Pooley wasted his life on a club like this. Such a waste! I really can’t believe this. Who sits and sanctions a decision like this? Who? Musa Hamzata, now Amoah when the transfer window is closed? Are we normal?

    — ZionStrong (@mentisprecinct) October 25, 2025

Sometimes I wonder why our football club selling dema best players to lower league in Africa whiles we said we wanted to strengthen our own.

All we know is going Africa n collecting huge goals with our best team in the country. It’s a shame n we must wake up
