Asante Kotoko head into Sunday’s decisive CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round second leg against Kwara United in Abeokuta with a slender 4-3 advantage from the first leg in Accra.

The Porcupine Warriors produced an attacking masterclass at the Accra Sports Stadium last week, with Albert Amoah netting twice in a thrilling contest. Though Kwara United managed three away goals, Kotoko’s victory showed their pedigree and attacking sharpness on the continental stage.

Coach Karim Zito’s men know the job is far from finished.

Defensive lapses proved costly in the first leg, but the Ghanaian giants remain confident of completing the assignment away from home.

With Amoah in fine form and the likes of Emmanuel Antwi pulling the strings in midfield, Kotoko will look to combine efficiency at the back with clinical finishing upfront.

Kwara United, playing away from their traditional base due to renovations at the Rashid Yekini Sports Complex, have moved the tie to Abeokuta and announced free entry to attract fans.

But Kotoko will draw on their rich continental experience to stay composed and push through the pressure.

Victory on Sunday September 28, 2025, will send the Porcupine Warriors into the next round, where Moroccan powerhouse Wydad AC await. For Kotoko, it is a chance to reaffirm their continental ambitions and continue their quest for glory.
