Asante Kotoko head coach Seydou Zerbo has returned to his native Burkina Faso as his 10-year-old son Zerbo Faical Mamadou has passed away.

The Ghana Premier League title holders confirmed the news in an official statement released on the club’s website.

“Our head Coach Seydou Zerbo has lost his son Zerbo Faical Mamadou earlier today due to complications after a heart surgery. The entire Porcupine family send our condolence and prayers to our coach and his family in this difficult period. The club will communicate to our fans the next line of action,” the statement reads.

The 59-year-old was on the bench for the Porcupine Warriors when they 1-0 to rivals Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League-cum-President’s Cup.
