Interim Asante Kotoko head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has attributed his side’s 1–0 defeat to Accra Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Super Clash to a costly goalkeeping error.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Owusu said his players were determined to secure a victory to bounce back from their recent poor run of results. However, he admitted that a lapse at the back proved decisive and ultimately cost the Porcupine Warriors all three points.

Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara was caught off his line when Hearts delivered a long ball into the box from a free kick. Baba Adamu capitalised on the situation, rising to head the ball over Camara and into the net for the only goal of the game.

Owusu took charge of the team last Tuesday following Karim Zito’s departure as head coach. The defeat, suffered in front of a packed home crowd at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, marked a disappointing result for the hosts in one of Ghana football’s biggest fixtures.
