Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have announced that Prince Yaw Owusu has been assigned as head coach on an interim basis following the resignation of Abdul Karim Zito.

In an official notice from the club on February 9, 2026, it said Prince Yaw Owusu will be assisted by Mohammed Hamza Obeng, with both tacticians expected to lead the team until a substantive head coach is appointed.

“Coach Prince Yaw Owusu is to temporarily take charge of the technical team assisted by Mohammed Hamza Obeng,” the Kumasi-based club announced in a post on X.

The new technical direction comes just a few hours after the club confirmed the resignation of Abdul Karim Zito.

After management accepted the resignation, it extended appreciation to the coach for his time at the club and wished him the best in the next chapter of his coaching career.

“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.

“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for the future,” the club said.

In their first assignment, Prince Yaw Owusu and Hamza Obeng must prepare Asante Kotoko for the upcoming Super Clash against Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League next weekend.
