Hearts will host Kotoko on Sunday Hearts will host Kotoko on Sunday

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, Ghana’s two biggest football clubs, will face off on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in a clash that promises passion, pride, and plenty of drama.

For decades, this fixture has been more than just football. It’s history versus legacy, red versus rainbow, Kumasi versus Accra.

From the packed stands of Baba Yara to the echoing chants at Accra Sports Stadium, the Super Clash has defined generations of Ghanaian football fans.

The rivalry was born in the 1950s but has evolved into a cultural event where every encounter and battle is for bragging rights and supremacy.

Kotoko faces hectic November with seven matches

Legends were made here: Ishmael Addo’s poacher’s instinct, Charles Taylor’s showmanship, Stephen Oduro’s brilliance, and Opoku Nti’s elegance. Each meeting carries echoes of those unforgettable names.

Both teams come into this Sunday’s showdown with contrasting emotions. Kotoko are still recovering from their early exit from the CAF Confederation Cup after an embarrassing elimination by Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club.

A defeat that brought heavy trolling from their rivals. On Sunday, they have the perfect opportunity to answer back on the pitch.

Hearts, meanwhile, are enjoying life under new head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, who has injected flair, structure, and belief into team.

They are unbeaten after eight league games this season, winning four and drawing four, and have already beaten Kotoko 2–0 in the GHALCA Top Four before the campaign kicked off.

Kotoko, too, remain unbeaten in the league, though they have played just five matches due to their continental commitments, winning three and drawing two. On the table, Hearts sit 2nd with 16 points, just two behind leaders Aduana Stars, while Kotoko are 8th with 11 points.

Form, though, often counts for little when these two meet. Games like this are decided by courage, composure, and sometimes pure chaos. A single goal can spark wild scenes across cities; a single mistake can haunt a career.

Every whistle, every tackle, every roar from the stands tells a story of passion and pride stretching back more than half a century.

So, when the whistle blows on Sunday, it won’t just be about three points. It will be about redemption for one, validation for the other, and for everyone watching, another reminder of why Kotoko versus Hearts will forever be more than a match.
