The Ghana DJ Awards held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, has made a lot of headlines.

Apart from the perfectly organized event, the award for the MC/Hypeman of the year, is one has been causing a lot of controversy.

The controversy and the talks about it have largely been about the announcement that it was a tie between MC Kojo Manuel and MC Portfolio.

While Portfolio has been celebrating this win even though he has expressed some reservations about why it was a tie, the host of Dryve of Ur Lyfe on Y107.9FM, Kojo Manuel, has finally come out to speak about his shock and disappointment.

Speaking about his disappointment in a video seen online, Kojo Manuel stems from the surprising decision to declare a tie in the Event MC/Hypeman of the Year category.

“I don’t believe in the concept of a tie,” he stated firmly. “I don’t think Ghana would ever hold an election and declare both the NPP and NDC winners. The idea of a tie doesn’t make sense to me, and I’ve yet to receive any official explanation from the Ghana DJ Awards about why this happened.”

    He further stated:

“Everyone is aware of the work I’ve put in over the year under review, so I don’t understand the basis for this comparison. Unfortunately, we’re at a point where you win an award and still have to justify it because someone else is sharing the recognition.”

When asked about his relationship with MC Portfolio, Kojo Manuel said:

“I’m originally from Kumasi, so I’ve known about him, and we’ve crossed paths a few times. We’ve even had some conversations in the past. However, we haven’t spoken since the awards.”
