Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea, Kojo Choi, paid a visit to the Black Stars ahead of their international friendly against the Taegeuk Warriors on November 18, 2025.
The Korean-born Ghanaian diplomat sought to inspire the team to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat to Japan on November 14, 2025.
He congratulated the players on their efforts and also acknowledged coach Otto Addo, whom he said he had followed during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
South Korea captain Son Heung-min not focused on 3-2 loss to Ghana ahead of friendly
“I want to tell all of you that you are ready and Korea has so much respect for you because when they talk about the football powerhouse of Africa, Ghana always comes on top and you are here representing Ghana and the question I ask is, do you think you are small? No, you are not,” he said.
Choi encouraged the players to see the upcoming match as an opportunity to shine despite recent setbacks.
“I understand we face a very nice defeat in Japan and the coach is trying some experiment here and there and I also understand some of our big boys are not here. I believe this gives us a better opportunity. This is actually an opportunity to take that shot which you believe is for the big boys,” he added.
Ending his pep talk, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea urged the players to give their all in the game.
The Black Stars will, however, be missing several key players for the match. Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Salisu of AS Monaco left the camp after the Japan game, while midfielder Abu Francis has been ruled out due to an injury sustained during the Japan game.
