The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Monday, June 30, 2025, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, stated that Kofi Jumah was arrested in connection with an investigation into vehicles belonging to the company that he had previously reported stolen.
“Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah was arrested based on a complaint or a petition that was submitted to us by GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited,” DCOP Donkor explained.
“We received the petition to the effect that some vehicles, which were properties of that company, had been stolen by the said Maxwell Kofi Jumah. A warrant for arrest was properly secured, and that was the basis for which he was arrested. He is in our custody at the CID Headquarters and is assisting with investigations,” she added.
She added that police have already retrieved some of the vehicles allegedly stolen after questioning the suspect.
“I must mention that as of this afternoon, we have retrieved three vehicles that he is said to have stolen. So, he is really assisting us with the investigation, and we will take it up from there,” she confirmed.
