Veteran actor Kofi Adjorlolo has revealed that illness prevented him from joining LilWin’s upcoming international movie, A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), despite receiving an invitation to be part of the production.

The celebrated Ghanaian actor explained that he was recovering from ill health after returning from Nigeria, where he had been working on another movie, making it impossible for him to commit to the project.

Speaking in an interview on Max TV, Adjorlolo said he communicated his condition to the Ghanaian actor and filmmaker and his production team to explain his absence.

He also dismissed suggestions that his decision to stay away from the movie stemmed from a disagreement with LilWin, insisting that their relationship remained cordial. According to him, he has consistently supported the filmmaker’s projects and had never declined an opportunity to feature in any of his previous productions.

“Yes, I was contacted, but I was not well. When I returned from Nigeria, I was unwell, and I made them aware of it. I have done a lot of LilWin’s productions. I have never refused to be part of LilWin’s productions before, and the people of Kumasi know that. Everything is okay between us. I don’t have any problem with them,” he explained.

Apart from addressing the circumstances surrounding his absence, Adjorlolo used the interview to highlight what he considers a major challenge facing Ghana’s movie industry.

The veteran actor identified inadequate investment as an area requiring urgent attention, arguing that increased financial backing would help filmmakers strengthen their productions and improve the industry’s prospects.

He said attracting more investors should be a priority if the sector is to achieve meaningful growth and deliver better productions.

“I would make sure there are lots of investments going into our productions. We need more investors in the industry,” the filmmaker added.

Meanwhile, LilWin is preparing to release A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), an ambitious movie that brings together several established actors from Ghana and Nigeria.

The production features prominent Nollywood stars, including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Mike Ezuruonye, Charles Awurum, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko.

The involvement of the Nigerian actors has drawn attention to the film, which forms part of LilWin’s efforts to bring together talents from different parts of the African film industry.
