The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, will grace the official launch and balloting ceremony of the University of Ghana (UG) Corporate Football League on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

His participation was confirmed following a visit by a delegation from the University of Ghana Sports & Wellness Directorate and RITE Sports Services, who extended their congratulations on his recent appointment and provided a briefing on the upcoming corporate league.

During the meeting, Adams commended the organizers for initiating such an innovative competition, highlighting its potential to enhance corporate fitness, networking, and recreation.

He pledged the full support of his ministry for the league, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting sports participation at all levels.

The UG Corporate Football League is an anticipated football competition aimed at fostering camaraderie, fitness, and teamwork among corporate institutions and colleges affiliated with the University of Ghana.

Scheduled to run for 20 weeks from late February to July 2025, the league will feature 16 teams from various industries, building on the success of the UG Corporate Football Gala held in November 2024, where “Union Ghana” emerged as champions.

The tournament will be played under floodlights at the University of Ghana Stadium every Friday night.

Some of Ghana’s top corporate institutions set to participate include Stanbic Bank, National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Ghana Armed Forces Officers Sports Club, UG Alumni Association, Lancaster Hotel, Ghana National Petroleum Authority, Forestry Commission, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Bui Power Authority, and Union Ghana, the defending champions of the UG Corporate Football Gala.
