Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has disclosed that he is not happy with the performance of Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo.

He stated that “’If I tell you I am impressed with Otto Addo, then it means I do not know my job. I am not”.

Kofi Adams’ expressed frustration over Otto Addo’s leadership after failing to qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in two decades the team will miss the tournament.

“Very soon the African Cup of Nations will start in Morocco and the Black stars have failed to qualify, that means we will just watch on Tv.”

How President Mahama’s directive got Black Stars’ budget slashed

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers ongoing , Adams warned that “We are yet to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, as it stands now we still need 4 points out of the possible 6 to avoid any upset or disappointment in sealing our spot at the World Cup”

The Ministers’ remarks underlines growing concerns about Otto Addo’s tenure, which has been tainted by poor results since his reappointment in March 2024 on a three-year contract.
