Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams

Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, has urged match officials selected for the upcoming Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko to uphold professionalism during the game.

The highly anticipated match between Ghana’s two largest clubs will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, May 4, as part of Matchday 30 in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

Ahead of the fixture, the minister has also appealed to fans of both teams to refrain from actions that could lead to violence, emphasizing the need for a fair and disciplined approach.

“These are the two biggest football clubs in the country, but they have disappointed us. Let us hope that the wrongs will be righted,” he told Asempa FM.

“We all know the history between these two clubs, but I urge the fans to stay away from any acts of hooliganism.”

He acknowledged the intense rivalry between the two clubs but urged supporters to avoid any form of hooliganism, stating, “Let’s all go and watch the game. I also urge the referee to be professional on the day, and I hope we will witness a good game on Sunday.”

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Jacob Aduntera as the centre referee, with Sulemana Salau Deen and Halilu Alhassan as assistant referees, and Maxwell Owusu as the fourth official.

Kickoff for the eagerly awaited clash is set for 15:00 GMT.
