A former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Kobena Mensah Woyome and past Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture in the 8th Parliament, has been appointed Chairperson of the newly established Government Relations and Stakeholders Subcommittee of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
The GOC Executive Board, led by President Richard Kofi Akpokavie, created the subcommittee to fast-track, advise, and guide government policies on sports in line with the Committee’s development agenda, which aligns with that of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Woyome’s appointment forms part of a broader committee structure approved by the GOC Executive Board.
In a letter dated August 12, 2025, signed by the GOC Secretary General, Mohammed Muniru Kassim, and copied to the President, Woyome was congratulated on his appointment.
The letter also assured him of the Committee’s commitment to work collaboratively for the development of sports in Ghana, to the benefit of young athletes, coaches, and technical officials across the country.
