The female Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Senior High School student seen in a viral video with an assistant headmaster in a compromising situation has spoken out to clarify her age.

In an interview with Adom News reporter Kwadwo Obeng Mireku, she stressed that she is 19 years old and not 13, as has been widely speculated.

“Just tell them I am 19 years old; I was born on July 21, 2006. I am not 13 years old,” she said.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in a press statement, claimed that the student in the viral video was 13 years old and subsequently called for the arrest of the assistant headmaster.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Charles Akwasi Aidoo has been removed from the school following the circulation of the viral video on social media.

In a statement issued on September 29, 2025, the Ghana Education Service (GES) said it had taken the matter seriously and acted swiftly to protect the integrity of the teaching profession and ensure the welfare of students.

According to the statement, Aidoo has been barred from accessing the school while the investigation continues.

The Service explained that the decision was necessary to safeguard a safe learning environment for students and protect the institution’s credibility.

The GES assured parents, students, and the general public that due process would be followed, stressing that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken in line with its code of conduct.

“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity and well-being of students,” the statement read.

The Service reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the teaching profession and emphasised that misconduct of any kind would not be tolerated.
