President John Dramani Mahama, through the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has released the second batch of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assembly (MMDA) Chief Executive nominees, consisting of 81 persons.

In a statement dated April 4, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, and copied to the Minister of Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, the list included nominees for selected MMDAs across nine regions.

The Ashanti Region saw one nominee appointed for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi.

This recent announcement follows the release of the first cohort of 71 nominees, named by the President on March 27, 2025.

This brings the total number of named MMDA Chief Executive nominees to 153, including the nominee for Hohoe Municipal Assembly, which was initially declared pending.

Ghana has a total of 261 MMDAs, and the president is expected to announce the remaining 108 nominees in the coming days.
