The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Burniton Music Group, Vida Adutwumwaa, has questioned King Promise’s chances of winning the Artiste of the Year award at the forthcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
During a debate with King Promise’s PRO, Tilly Akua Nipaa, on April 18, 2025, Vida Adutwumwaa argued that the ‘Terminator’ hitmaker has not done enough to deserve the top spot at this year’s TGMAs.
She pointed out that despite being a dancehall artiste, a genre with fewer mainstream artistes in Ghana, Stonebwoy has managed to remain relevant and consistent over the years.
“You claimed Stonebwoy is retrogressing based on a comparison of his numbers from previous years to now. But I ask you the same: King Promise’s numbers from last year and this year aren’t the same either, so does that mean he’s also regressing?
“The fact that Stonebwoy has upheld the dancehall genre in Ghana for over 10 years, a genre not many pursue here, is a clear sign that he’s doing well,” she stated.
Vida also claimed that King Promise performed only 10 shows throughout 2024.
“King Promise played only 10 shows in 2024. Now compare that to the number of live band performances Stonebwoy delivered. That’s not the sign of an artiste who’s falling off,” she concluded.
