Ahead of the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Afrobeats artiste King Promise has emerged as the leading contender for the “Artiste of the Year” award, according to a poll conducted by GhanaWeb on X.

The poll, which garnered a total of 83 votes, showed King Promise leading with 51% of participants rooting for him to win the most coveted award on Ghana’s biggest music night.

The poll which was conducted in the early hours of May 10, 2025, placed King Promise ahead of fellow nominees King Paluta, Kweku Smoke and Black Sherif.

King Paluta secured 23% of the votes, Kweku Smoke followed with 14%,while Black Sherif got 12%.

Following a narrow miss at the 2024 edition of the awards, the “Paris” hitmaker has been on a deliberate campaign to trumpet his achievement in the music industry in the year under review.

His efforts have included stepping up media engagement, expanding his fanbase across Africa and Europe and even employing a PR person to amplify his achievements.

King Promise’s run in the year under review has been marked by a series of hit songs and sold-out concerts that have helped him secure a strong position within the Afrobeats scene.

The Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2025 is taking place today, May 10, 2025.

The event is held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Center.
