Ghanaian artiste King Paluta has received an unexpected honor, his hit track ‘Aseda’ was featured in the 2024/2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), a milestone that has the artiste both stunned and overjoyed.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, June 17, Paluta, born Thomas Adjei Wireko, couldn’t hide his excitement after hearing the news.

“I don’t know if it’s really true but I heard there was a question in the BECE exams today about me. I’m popping the champagne already,” he wrote.

The appearance of ‘Aseda’ in the national exam emphasises King Paluta’s rising cultural influence, as his music makes its way from airwaves and playlists to the classroom.

The artiste was mentioned in Section B of the Music and Creative Arts paper, where students were asked to delve into the themes within his music. Question 4(c) specifically highlighted the societal weight of his lyrics:

“King Paluta, whose real name is Thomas Adjei Wireko, is a Ghanaian musician known for blending traditional rhythms, storytelling, and modern hip-hop beats in his music. One of his most popular songs, ‘Aseda,’ carries deep messages that address important issues in Ghanaian society. Identify two of these issues.”
