Cofy Dela, manager of versatile Ghanaian artiste King Paluta, believes his artiste’s groundbreaking hits in 2024 make him the most deserving candidate for the Artiste of the Year (AOTY) award at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
According to the manager, King Paluta’s influence on the music industry throughout 2024 was unmatched, and no artiste comes close.
His remarks come as excitement builds ahead of the TGMA Artiste of the Year race, with the awards gala set for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Cofy Dela highlighted the rapper’s consistency, hit releases, and strong fan engagement as indicators of his leading position among his peers.
According to him, no other artiste in the category — which includes King Promise, Stonebwoy, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle, Black Sherif, and Team Eternity — has had as widespread an impact during the year under review as King Paluta.
“He deserves it more than any other artiste in the category because his presence and impact in the year under review were dominant across the board,” he said in an interview.
Speaking about what motivated him to manage King Paluta, Cofy Dela explained that the rapper’s strong vision, passion, and dedication to his music caught his attention.
He described Paluta as someone who never gives up and consistently works hard, which inspired him to support the artiste and help him reach his full potential.
“I was inspired and drawn to manage King Paluta by his unique vision, drive, passion, and commitment to his craft. He is the true definition of perseverance, dedication, and consistency. This belief has fueled my desire to help him realize his full potential and achieve success,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey in the entertainment industry, Cofy Dela said it has been a positive experience overall. While there have been challenges along the way, he has learned a lot and adapted to different situations.
“I would say my experience has been great so far, though there have been ups and downs. It has also been full of learning and adaptation,” he added.
When asked about how he keeps up with industry trends and public opinion on Paluta, Cofy Dela said he regularly visits websites, blogs, and news sources to stay informed.
“I stay updated on industry trends by visiting specific websites, blogs, and news sources I follow to stay abreast of current developments and to know what revolves around my artiste, King Paluta.
“An artiste should focus on developing a consistent visual identity, maintaining a strong online presence, and defining their unique artistic voice and musical style,” he added.
