King Charles will host the German president during his three-day state visit in December.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by the First Lady of Germany, Frau Elke Büdenbender, will be greeted by His Majesty and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle from December 3 to December 5.
It will be the first state by a German president in 27 years, and the fifth since 1958.
President Steinmeier has visited Britain on several occasions – most recently to attend Their Majesties’ Coronation in May 2023.
Charles and Camilla also met with him and the German First Lady two months prior, where they spent time in Berlin and Hamburg.
They also attended a glittering state banquet together, which was hosted by President Steinmeier at the sprawling Schloss Bellevue Palace in the German capital.
Following the visit, the King and Queen issued a statement where they said the country was ‘so close to our hearts’ as they thanked the people of Germany for their ‘touching and warm welcome’.
Before he took the throne, Charles visited Germany more than 40 times with Camilla.
A statement by Buckingham Palace reads: ‘The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by Frau Elke Büdenbender, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday, 3rd December to Friday, 5th December 2025.’
