Kelvyn Boy has apologised to the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) following some ‘distasteful’ comments he posted about the omission of Kojo Blak’s “Excellent” from the nominations list.
The controversy began when fans on social media questioned why the song “Excellent” by Kojo Black and Kelvyn Boy was not included in the nominations.
In response, Kelvyn Boy took to Twitter to rant, accusing Charterhouse of what he described as their habit of engaging in actions that often put them in the negative spotlight during the VGMA season.
“Charterhouse is a bad b**ch. She always wants to be talked about,” he tweeted.
Addressing the controversy, Robert Klah, Head of Communications at Charterhouse, explained on Hitz FM that “Excellent” was excluded because it was released late in the year under review.
He noted that including the song would have been unfair, as it gained significant traction mainly in 2025, which fell outside the eligibility period for the awards.
Kelvyn Boy, having learned this, apologised for his rants.
“Perhaps the song will be considered for the following year, as the artiste who submitted the song was expecting a nomination. I think we’re good now, and I want to use this opportunity to offer a very big apology to my boss Robert and Charterhouse,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the 2025 TGMAs is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2025, at the Grand Arena, Accra.
The event will be preceded by a pre-party on May 2, bringing together nominees and industry stakeholders for networking and discussions.
Also, there will be a nominees’ jam, also known as the TGMA Xperience, on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
