Ghanaian media personality Captain Smart has weighed in on the ongoing national debate surrounding the recent arrest of Sewdru-based business mogul, Abu Trica, over his alleged role in defrauding U.S. elderly victims of more than $8 million.

In a video shared on X on December 16, 2025, Captain Smart criticised the government for allowing U.S. security authorities to apprehend a Ghanaian national, describing the move as unacceptable.

According to the outspoken journalist, if the government continues to permit the FBI to extradite Ghanaian youth over alleged fraud schemes, it should prepare to kiss victory in the forthcoming 2028 general elections goodbye.

“I don’t support Abu Trica if he is at fault, but look at the number of youth who have been taken away from this country. Look at the oil that was drilled from this country. You, Raymond Archer, are in this country, saying they will arrest more youth.

“Arrest them and see if you don’t lose more elections. What charges are they even going to level against him?” he questioned.

Captain Smart further queried why the government appeared to have gone contrary to its own laws, stressing that since Abu Trica was apprehended in Ghana, there was no justification for extraditing him, as he could be prosecuted locally.

“Ghana has signed agreements with other foreign countries that if they arrest a Ghanaian citizen on their soil, the person should be extradited to Ghana.

“So why would you allow them to take Abu Trica to the USA? You can prosecute him here in Ghana. Besides, he was arrested in this country. I stand with the youth of Ghana,” he added.
