Unbeaten Eikichi Kawamura (7-0-1, 4 KOs), 137.75, repeated his victory over Homura Fujita (13-4, 11 KOs), 140, by a split decision (96-93, 97-92 for Kawamura, 94-95 for Fujita) over ten hot frames on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. Scoring a sole knockdown with a left-right combo in round four, Kawamura managed to withstand Fujita’s fierce retaliation in later rounds to be slightly victorious thanks to the loser’s visit to the deck. The hard-punching Fujita had suffered a third round stoppage last May, and tasted another setback to the grudge rival.
