The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have announced Kassim Ocansey Mingle as the new head coach of Ghana’s male U23 team, the Black Meteors.

The announcement was made on Monday, January 13, 2024, indicating that Mingle will be taking over from Maxwell Konadu, who left the role to coach Black Leopards, a South African First Division side.

Kassim, the current head coach of Nations FC, is an experienced coach who has led clubs like Accra Great Olympics, Bechem United, and Nations FC.

He has also gained experience at academy, colts, and second-tier levels of Ghanaian football.

Throughout his football career, he played for teams such as Dumas Boys of GTP, GIHOC Stars, Sekondi Eleven Wise, and Accra Steadfast for a period of eight years.

The coach has been tasked with leading the team that was the first African nation to win an Olympic medal in football at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, to reclaim their glory and become a powerhouse on the continent.

He will be hoping to make a positive impact and qualify the team for various competitions in order to win accolades.
