In commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Education, Karpowership Ghana has donated essential educational and sanitary items to the La Bawaleshie Presbyterian School at East Legon, Accra.

This year’s celebration is themed: ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,’ underscoring the transformative power of education in the face of technological advancements.

The donation, which took place on Friday, January 24, 2025, included exercise books, storybooks, pens, pencils, cardboards, learning aids for teachers, handwashing stations, and dustbins. As students begin a new academic term, these items will help enhance the teaching and learning environment for over 700 students while promoting a healthier and cleaner school setting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sandra Amarquaye, Communications Manager for Karpowership Ghana, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting education, saying that, “Education is a cornerstone of societal growth, and at Karpowership Ghana, we are proud to contribute to the initiatives that empower students and teachers with the resources they need to thrive.”

“As we mark the International Day of Education, we reflect on the critical role education plays in preserving human agencies, especially in an age of automation. We hope this donation inspires students to embrace innovation and pursue excellence,” she added.

The Headmaster of La Bawaleshie Presbyterian School, Rev. Charlemagne Aryee, expressed his gratitude for the timely gesture, adding “This donation comes at a crucial time as we tackle an acute cholera outbreak as a country. It will also go along way to equip our students with essential sanitary items to practice proper handwashing and maintain high standards of hygiene.

This support will significantly improve the learning environment and provide critical assistance to both our students and teachers. We are profoundly grateful to Karpowership Ghana for finding us to be of a blessing to us. We are grateful.”

The excitement of the students was palpable. Patience Efepke shared her enthusiasm: “The new books and pens will help us take better notes and complete our assignments on time. It’s great to know that people care about our education.”

This initiative is part of Karpowership Ghana’s broader “Powering Communities through Education” project, which focuses on empowering communities through education and fostering sustainable development.
