The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has described the late founder of Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, as a man whose life and work embodied Ghana’s potential for industrial self-reliance.

In a tribute to mark 40th Day Observance of Apostle Safo’s passing on Monday, September 20, 2025, he reflected on his legacy.

“Apostle Safo was a man of immense vision, unshakeable faith, and boundless creativity. He was not only a spiritual leader and firm, but also a pioneer whose works laid the foundation for Ghana’s journey towards industrial self-reliance. His passing is, therefore, not just a loss to his family and followers, but to the entire nation and the African continent,” his tribute read.

According to Julius Debrah, Apostle Safo’s influence on Ghana’s industrial development cannot be overstated, as he was a visionary who demonstrated the power of indigenous innovation long before industrialisation became a government agenda.

“When we speak of Ghana’s industrial revolution, we cannot do so without respecting the name of Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Long before industrialisation became a policy priority, he was already demonstrating what it meant to believe in Ghana’s potential,” he noted.

Julius Debrah lauded Apostle Safo’s creative genius, which produced inventions, machines, and vehicles that continue to serve as a testament to African ingenuity.

“He challenged us to look within ourselves for the answers to our national development. He showed that African ingenuity is not a myth — it is a living, breathing reality, capable of transforming societies when nurtured with faith and hard work,” he noted.

Julius Debrah also shared fond memories of his younger days with Apostle Safo at Taifa, recalling his joyful personality and musical talent.

“I remember vividly how he would entertain the community with his remarkable guitar performances, a symbol of his multifaceted gifts and joyful spirit. Even then, his charisma and compassion drew people to him,” he recounted.

He described the late Apostle as a true patriot who devoted his life to building and innovating rather than complaining or imitating, leaving behind an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

The late Apostle died on September 11, 2025, at the age of 113 years.
