The build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw is turning chaotic, as dozens of journalists are being left stranded outside the venue on Friday, December 5, 2025, afternoon due to an unexpected and painfully slow security operation.

With snow falling and temperatures dropping, members of the international press are standing outside the perimeter for hours while local “secret service” personnel are carrying out lengthy checks on bags and equipment.

According to RMC Sport, the searches are starting nearly three hours before the ceremony, yet no journalists are being allowed inside.

The situation, according to reports, is becoming increasingly embarrassing for the organizers. FIFA, usually in full control of its flagship events, is finding itself powerless, as local authorities are taking complete charge of access and logistics.

What is supposed to be a smooth, global showcase is instead turning into confusion and frustration.

Journalists are posting images and videos from the freezing queues, saying they are wondering whether they will even make it inside before the draw begins. Some are describing the scene as “disorganized,” surprised that such a massive event is suffering such a simple operational breakdown.
