Former sports minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye has praised the defensive prowess of English-born Ghanaian defender Josh Acheampong for his impressive performances this season.
The teenage sensation rose to prominence after consistently featuring for Chelsea following Levi Colwill’s serious injury, which has sidelined him for some time.
Acheampong has been brilliant at the back for the Blues. His ball control, aerial dominance, and defensive awareness have made him indispensable, helping him cement a place in the starting eleven.

Speaking on his performance, Nii Lante boldly claimed that Acheampong is better than the likes of Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, and other defenders currently in the Black Stars setup.
In light of this, the former minister has called on the Black Stars technical team, led by head coach Otto Addo, to invite the prodigy to join the squad and bolster the defense.
He believes Acheampong could play a pivotal role for the team as they prepare to face tough competition at the 2026 World Cup, despite not participating in the qualifiers.
“Josh Acheampong is better than all defenders in the current Black Stars, so call him,” he said, as shared by GTV Sports+.
Although the 19-year-old has featured for some of England’s junior national teams, he remains eligible to play for Ghana.
