Ghanaian midfielder Josephine Bonsu featured for FC Carl Zeiss Jena as they secured an impressive 4-1 victory over SC Sand in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal Frauen.
Bonsu was introduced in the 46th minute as Jena continued their dominant performance to seal qualification to the semi-finals of the German women’s domestic cup competition. The Ghanaian midfielder added energy and composure in midfield as her side maintained control of the match after the break.
The appearance marked Bonsu’s first game for her club following her return from international duty with the Ghana women’s national football team, popularly known as the Black Queens. She was part of the Ghana squad that recently triumphed at the Pink Ladies Cup held in the United Arab Emirates.
Bonsu’s return is expected to further strengthen Jena’s squad as they continue their cup campaign. The victory keeps FC Carl Zeiss Jena firmly on course for potential silverware this season while highlighting the growing impact of Ghanaian players in European women’s football.
