Ghanaian boxer Joseph Commey, popularly known as “Jaguar,” is set to return to the ring on April 5 at the Laboma Beach Resort in Accra as part of the highly anticipated Resurrection Fight Night.
Commey, who made history as the first professional boxer to win the UBO Africa title on his debut, currently holds the National Lightweight title and remains one of the country’s most promising talents. The former amateur standout also represented Ghana at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he secured a silver medal after illness denied him a shot at gold.
He will face experienced opponent Ayala in what is expected to be a stern test of his progress in the professional ranks.
Speaking ahead of the bout, Commey emphasised the importance of challenging top-level opponents, noting that “as a boxer, you have to face the big boys to become a big boy.”
The “Jaguar” also expressed gratitude to RBS Promotions and Box Office Promotions for the opportunity to showcase his skills.
He made a public appearance at Gbese on Wednesday, where he interacted with fans and praised their support ahead of the big night.
