Jose Mourinho has responded to rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo could potentially move to Fenerbahce when his contract expires next summer 12 years after he last played under the manager.

The Portuguese boss arrived at Real Madrid in 2010, on the back of a memorable Champions League victory at Inter Milan, and had the luxury of a star-studded side including the gifted forward who was reaching the prime of his career.

In three seasons together, Ronaldo scored a whopping 168 goals for Mourinho’s Galacticos helping the team to La Liga and Copa del Rey trophies.

Mourinho has since gone on to manage Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Roma and Fenerbahce while his former player has found himself at Saudi outfit Al-Nassr where he has struck 16 times in 19 matches this campaign.

His deal at the club expires in the summer, however, and speculation is starting to mount as to his next stop as he enters the 23rd year of an iconic career.

A reunion with former boss Mourinho has been mooted and the ‘Special One’ addressed such reports at a press conference.

He said: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo will not come. The first reason is that I have three good forwards and I don’t want another one.

‘Cristiano will always be Cristiano, but I don’t want him because I’m happy with my forwards. He has the money he earns in Saudi Arabia and a goal of 1,000 goals. What could motivate him to come to Turkey, other than the beauty of Istanbul?’

Mourinho currently boasts a wealth of attacking options in Edin Dzeko, Cenk Tosun and Youssef En-Nesyri who have 19 goals between them this campaign.

He added: ‘I don’t really like the January transfer window because the player who comes needs a certain amount of time.

‘I never say no to a transfer, but I don’t knock on Ali Bey’s or Acun Bey’s door and say I want a transfer.’

Fenerbahce currently lie in second place in the Turkish league just three points behind leaders Galatasaray while they sit in 15th in the Europa League.

Both Ronaldo and Mourinho have been engaged in recent off-the-pitch spats with the 61-year-old directing his ire towards bitter rival Pep Guardiola of late.

The Man City manager was asked if he was on the brink of being sacked after he evoked the image of Mourinho recently, holding up six fingers to Liverpool fans to signify the amount of titles he had won. The Portuguese had done the same in his last days at United.

The Spaniard said: ‘I hope not in my case… He won three, I won six.. but we are the same like that.’

Mourinho took issue with the comment, hitting back at the Spaniard: ‘Guardiola said something to me yesterday. He won six trophies and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly.

‘If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 lawsuits.’

Ronaldo meanwhile has been involved in a bizarre back and forth with former Real team-mate Rafael van der Vaart after the Dutchman said he had ‘never seen [Ronaldo’s] penis’. A reference that he clarified suggested the Portuguese was always training and never in the showers.

The icon posted, ‘Who is that guy?’, under a reposting of the remarks on Instagram.

The Dutchman had told talkSPORT: ‘He never left the house! I always tell this joke: Ronaldo is the only player whose penis I’ve never seen. He was always the first one to train and the last one to leave.’
