Jordan Ayew has expressed confidence that Ghana national football team will approach the 2026 FIFA World Cup with determination as they aim to make the nation proud on football’s biggest stage.
The tournament, to be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada, will see Ghana return with renewed ambition following disappointing performances in recent editions. The Black Stars captain insisted the team will compete with belief and purpose rather than simply participate.
“We are going to the World Cup to give our very best. We want to put on a show and achieve the results we are aiming for. We are not just going to make up the numbers,” Ayew said.
The forward also stressed the importance of unity, humility and belief within the squad as preparations gather momentum ahead of the global showpiece.
Drawn in Group L, Ghana will open their campaign against the Panama national football team on June 17 before facing the England national football team on June 23 and the Croatia national football team on June 27.
The Black Stars will also play international friendlies against the Germany national football team, Austria national football team, Mexico national football team and Wales national football team as part of their preparations for the tournament.
