    Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has revealed that his eagerness to play regular football contributed to his decision to depart from Crystal Palace for Leicester in the 2023/2024 season.

    According to him, there was a moment he realised that he had given his best to the club in terms of performances and felt the need to give young players a chance to exhibit their talent.

    He also indicated that the lack of playing time in some matches prompted him to explore his options instead of staying on the bench and becoming rusty.

    Jordan Ayew emphasised that his ambition to remain competitive and keep playing at the highest level made him join Leicester City.

    “When you’re a player, you feel like you’re giving everything to the club, and maybe you can’t do more. But like I said, when you know the club is in a good position and it’s in a safe place, young ones behind you are doing their job.

    “You have to take it easy; you don’t want to just hang around. But because I’m competitive and I need to play, that’s why I just made the move,” he said, as shared by Joy Sports on X.

    Ayew signed a two-year contract with Leicester City from Crystal Palace in a deal worth an initial £5m.

    He is yet to decide his future at Leicester City following the club’s relegation from the English Premier League.

    Ayew, who joined the Foxes from Crystal Palace in August 2023 endured a challenging debut season under Dutch manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, making 36 appearances and scoring six goals.

    Despite individual flashes of brilliance, Leicester managed just six wins all season, sealing their second top-flight relegation in three years.
