African football journalist, Mickey Junior has reported that Ghanaian footballer Jonathan Sowah is at risk of being expelled from Simba SC over bribery allegations.

According to him, the chairman of Simba SC accused Sowah of accepting bribes from his former club, Singida Black Stars, to deliberately underperform against them.

The journalist noted that the chairman was angered by Sowah’s poor performances against Young Africans and Singida, which he believes negatively affected Simba’s results.

In an interview with Angel FM, Mickey revealed that the club has suspended Sowah, reduced his salary, and noted that the allegations have spread widely in Tanzania.

“The club chairman called Sowah and accused him of taking a bribe before they played Young Africans. They later faced Singida Black Stars, where Sowah had previously played, and the chairman claimed he intentionally failed to perform against those two clubs, putting in less effort.”

“The news is spreading in Tanzania that a Ghanaian player took a bribe. They played a game and Sowah wasn’t part of the squad, and his salary was deducted by 50%,” he said in Twi.

He added added that Sowah has denied the allegations and insisted that his legal representatives and agent must be present before any contract discussions with the club.

“Sowah and his agents informed me about the issue earlier, and it is trending, people are talking about it everywhere. Now the club wants to hold a meeting to terminate his contract, but he said he won’t agree without his agent and lawyers present. Sowah denied the allegations, asking how a club could spend such money and then accuse him of betrayal,” Mickey added.
