Black Stars centre-back Jonas Adjetey has suffered an injury which will keep him out for weeks, FC Basel have confirmed.

The defender picked a knock during the Swiss league game against FC Saint Gallen and had to be replaced after 49 minutes.

Adjetey suffered a small stress fracture in the area of his left foot and will be expected to return to action in November.

The accurate time of absence is not certain but he should be fit in time for Ghana’s next international assignment against Angola and Niger in November.

“Jonas Adjetey had to be substituted in the 49th minute of yesterday’s match against FC St. Gallen due to injury. Today’s examinations have revealed another small stress fracture in the area of his left foot, and the 20-year-old central defender is expected to be out for a few weeks,” wrote FC Basel.

Adjetey made his Ghana debut last week in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan, coming on late in the second-half of the game in Libya.
