Ghana international Jonas Adjetey has his sights on Champions League football with FC Basel next season.
The 21-year-old helped the Swiss side to win their first league title in seven years and also to the cup to complete the domestic double.
These two trophies were the first of Adjetey’s professional career, as he had to remain patient.
After starting just 11 league games in the previous campaign, the Ghanaian centre-back dramatically increased his involvement, featuring in a whopping 32 Swiss Super League matches during the 2024/25 season.
With the league title secured, FC Basel has earned a spot in the play-off round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, a crucial stage that offers a gateway to the prestigious group phase.
For Adjetey, the prospect of competing on Europe’s biggest stage is a dream come true.
“For me, it’s a great honour to play in the Champions League. We will play a play-off. I just pray we get the win, and then we can fit in (group phase),” he told Flashscore.
“But for me to play in the Champions League is a very great honour. I always watch the Champions League,” he added.
