Former Black Stars players John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda are reportedly set to be relieved of their roles on the Black Stars’ technical team.

The anticipated dismissals are part of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to restructure the technical team following the team’s dismal performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

According to a report by Asempa FM, the GFA are planning two changes within the technical team, specifically in the roles of assistant coach and goalkeepers’ trainer, currently held by Paintsil and Dauda, respectively.

The shake-up follows a request by head coach Otto Addo, who, during his last meeting with the GFA Executive Council, emphasized the need for improvements in his backroom staff.

The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, finishing bottom of their group without a single win.

This marks the first time in 20 years that the four-time African champions have missed the continent’s premier football tournament.
