    John Mahama to appoint Nii Lante Vanderpuye as Minister of Youth and Sports

    President John Dramani Mahama is set to announce Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a seasoned sports administrator and politician, as the Minister of Youth and Sports.

    According to GhanaWeb sources, Nii Lante has been earmarked for the role with John Mahama convinced that the former Odododiodio MP is the right candidate for the job.

    Mahama recently announced his first set of ministerial appointments, which include three positions, with the rest of the appointees to be released to the public soon.

    If re-appointed, Nii Lante’s primary focus would be addressing the numerous issues plaguing Ghana football, including poor performances by national teams and athletes.

    About Nii Lante Vanderpuye

    Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, born on June 11, 1965, is a politician and Member of Parliament for the Odododiodioo constituency.

    In March 2013, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry under the John Mahama government.

    He served in this role until 2014, when he was reassigned as Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, a position he held until 2015.

    Following a ministerial reshuffle in 2015, Vanderpuye was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports by President John Dramani Mahama, replacing Dr. Mustapha Ahmed
