Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has responded with humour after social media users linked him to an alleged multimillion-dollar property in one of Accra’s most affluent neighbourhoods.

A video circulating on X claimed to show a $3 million mansion in Cantonments, suggesting the upscale residence belonged to Dumelo. The post praised the public figure, describing him as “our most successful actor and minister” and adding that “He deserves everything good and more.”

But Dumelo appeared just as surprised as everyone else.

“Ah which side of Cantonments?” he replied, a short but pointed response that cast doubt on the claim without directly addressing it.

The exchange quickly gained traction online, with many interpreting his comment as a lighthearted denial. Others viewed it as a subtle way of distancing himself from the speculation while keeping the mood playful.

Dumelo, who built his name in Ghana’s film industry before transitioning into public service, has remained a visible figure both in entertainment and politics. His response to the mansion claim reflects a pattern familiar to many public personalities navigating viral narratives: sometimes a simple question says enough.

As of now, there has been no further clarification regarding the ownership of the property shown in the video. But Dumelo’s reaction has ensured that the conversation, at least for the moment, belongs to him.
