Former Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor has praised Kenpong Football Academy for its commitment to nurturing young football talents.

Kufuor, who patronises the Winneba-based academy, describes the institution’s model as a significant contribution to Ghana’s football development. He commended the academy’s founder, Kennedy Agyepong (Kenpong), for his continued efforts in creating opportunities for young players.

“Let me congratulate you for helping groom these youngsters,” Kufuor said during a courtesy visit by the academy’s team to his residence in Peduase.

“They look fine and athletic. But take good care of yourselves as you leave for abroad. Involving Don Little in the team speaks well of Kenpong and the academy.”

The academy’s head coach, JE Sarpong, described the meeting as an honour, noting that Kenpong had directed the team to visit the former president for his blessings ahead of the players’ overseas move.

“Three players are scheduled to travel to Belgium on April 21, and another will head to Norway. We’re working hard and believe that when they succeed, many more will follow,” Coach Sarpong stated.

Don Little, who acts as the academy’s team manager, said the visit was to seek the former leader’s guidance and goodwill for the players’ journeys.

The players bound for Belgium are Smith Yankyerah, Boateng Prince Ofori, and Daniel Abrefa Asiedu, while Nuhu Abdul Razak is set to join a club in Norway.
